Things I find interesting and useful either in daily life, or travel, or both.
Serenity Gathering 2016
The Serenity Gathering Festival in Joshua Tree.
Another day, another desert; this time the festival is in the Joshua Tree National Park. Serenity is aptly named. The night sky here is full of stars reaching to touch the horizon at every edge. The sunsets light the sky with rich hues.
Side note: Cactus. Yep, there was plenty of it. That part is not so serene.
Envision 2016
Trip to Envision Festival 2016 in between Uvita and Dominical, Costa Rica.
This time I was prepared for the Costa Rican climate. Still, the heat took days to acclimatize to. Having bounced around during the year, the seasons are starting to get muddled together. The event sight was as intricate as I remembered from last year, with a few infrastructure upgrades.
The highlight of the trip down was our stop at Big Burger. Rarely, outside of the US can you find a burger like this; ½ Lb of Beef, and all the fixings for about 1,800 Colones! A great meal.
Everything was set. It was time for work.
YOUtopia 2015
YOUtopia 2015
I was asked by a good friend to come and help run medical for San Diego’s regional Burning Man event. It was amazing. Words and pictures don’t do it justice. I was held on a campground on the La Jolla Indian reservation, and absolutely wonderful site. I look forward to next year.
End of Burning Man Resto
Well, 126 days later, Burning Man is finished. The northern Nevada desert has been returned to the state it was in when I arrived in the beginning of June. This has been my longest season to date, and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. I learned a lot about myself and the people around me. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Burning Man 2015
That annual festival in the northern Nevada desert. Words cannot describe what it is. You must see it for yourself.
Fence Day
Fence day for the ESD of Burning Man. This year, 9.25 miles of fence was put up in 8 hours and 45 minutes, including a one hour lunch break.
Gerlach
A town kept alive only by the annual return of circus runaways, willing to build a city in the middle of the desert.
